Course Information:
Dynamic Oral Care Therapies
Continuing Education courses for the Dental Hygiene Team
Currently I offer half or full day programs which may be hands on ultrasonic/perio skill development, or interactive lecture presentations. Courses may be tailored to meet the needs of the group. All programs are fully corporate sponsor funded. Complete course Descriptions are available upon request.
Successful management of perio disease is one of the most challenging and rewarding for the dental team. Non surgical continued therapy is often the healthiest treatment available for our patients.
How to implement non-surgical approaches to disease management can be eased with clinical skill confidence and communication tools.
Improving productive, rewarding RDH utilization in most general dental offices is an unrecognized need. Often practices with full schedules are losing hundreds of dollars a day through “traditional” hygiene services. Practices with lighter schedules can increase revenue by revising how hygiene patients are diagnosed and appointed. Clinicians working “smart” are less likely to suffer burnout and frustrations.
Over the years I have adopted a strategy of diagnosing aggressively combined with conservative treatment. Conservative treatment goals conserve the maximum healthy tissue and treat proactively.
Advancements in diagnostic devices enable early detection of infection long before traditional signs of clinical disease. Early intervention allows for retaining support structure and attachment, preventing destruction and preserving a healthier oral environment.
Ultrasonic instrumentation is ideal to minimize and eradicate pathogenic bacteria. Micro-ultrasonic tips allow better access than ever, reducing over treatment with manual instruments. Hands on courses are available to gain familiarity and confidence in ultrasonic utilization.
Understanding when and how to treat with local delivery, systemic delivery, or combination therapy is crucial for optimal continued periods of perio health. Patient selection and communication guidelines are a must for clinician confidence in implementation of STM or FMD protocols.
